Dennis
& Heather Dalla, of Orrie Cowie Merino & Poll Merino studs,
Warooka, Yorke Peninsula, are justifiably proud of their sons Timothy
& Johnathon.
In 1998 Tim, aged 16, won the Junior Merino Judging (under 25 yrs) at
the Wagin Woolorama, WA. In 2000 while working at Uardry, Hay, Tim won
the SA State Junior Merino Judging (under 25 yrs) at RAHS. He then represented
SA for the National title, held at 2003 Hobart Royal Show and second
for Australia. In 2004, John, aged 15 years, came second in the SA State
Junior Merino Judging (under 25 years) at RAHS. In 2005, John came second
at Wagin in the Junior Merino judging.
In 2003 and 2008 , Tim won the blade shearing at Hay Sheep Show.
In 2004, he won the blade shearing in Bendigo at the Australian Sheep
and wool show giving him the Victorian title and came second at Hay,
allowing him to represent either SA, NSW or VIC at the National titles
in Roma, QLD. In 2004, John came third in blade shearing at the Australian
Sheep and Wool Show, Bendigo. Because Tim was invited to co-represent
SA in the National titles, John represented Vic. in Roma. However Tim
did not compete due to work commitments. John in his second major competition
came second in his heat and fifth in the finals at the Australian National
Blade Shearing Competition in Roma, QLD 2004.
In 2007 and 2008 John came first in the Junior judging at Wagin Woolorama.
In 2006 John was successful at Bendigo blade shearing competition and came 2nd in the WA State Blade Shearing Championships.
In 2007, John came 2nd in SA for Blade Shearing representing them in the Nationals held at Warrnambool, Vic. He came 2nd and earned a place in the Australian Shearing team, to compete in the World Golden Shears in Norway, October 2008.
John came 8th in the world at the World Golden Shears. In November 2008, John won the Australian Blade Shearer title at Hay NSW, turning 20 the day before.
Tim is now studmaster at Collinsville and enjoying the challenge, supported by Jade.
